DEPUTY ACTING COMMISSIONER OUTLINES POLICE STRATEGY FOR 2027 NGE

ACTING Commissioner of Police, Dr. Phillip Mitna has outlined the Security strategy for the 2027 National General Elections.
When queried on the strategic plan on how to ensure the credibility of the National General Election during an inquiry into the Preparation and Readiness of the 2027 National Election yesterday, Dr. Mitna stated that they have drafted a Concept of Security Operations [Con-Ops] and will be looking to complete it before implementation.
He stated that it is a replica of the 2022 Con-Opps and have factored in the expansion of new electorates and areas and are waiting on the Electoral Commission of Papua New Guinea to provide an exact number for police to work with.
Now police have confirmed operation readiness for the 2027 NGE.
The Acting Commissioner stated that reliable information is key to operation effectiveness, recapping that the 2022 NGE had been challenging as some agencies lacked working cohesiveness among themselves.
He said two things will be key to the operation, includes Intelligence and Awareness during the elections
Dr. Mitna stated that Police have started preliminary scoping of information, particularly around the Highlands West area where the Proliferation of firearms continues to be a major problem.
