AUSTRALIA DELIVERED OVER K12m IN CYCLONE MAILA SUPPORT

Australia Provides Over K12 Million in Cyclone Maila Support.rI//
Australia has delivered more than K12 million in assistance to Papua New Guinea following Cyclone Maila.
Australian High Commissioner Ewan McDonald says the support includes about K11 million for road and bridge repairs in New Ireland, East New Britain and Bougainville.
He says more than 1 million kina was also provided for emergency relief supplies, including shelter kits, water purification tablets and hygiene items.
Australia also supplied around K700,000 worth of food to affected communities in Bougainville and Milne Bay.
The Royal Australian Air Force C-27 Spartan aircraft carried out 15 flights, delivering over 45 tonnes of supplies to remote areas.
Mr McDonald says Australia is working closely with the PNG Government and partners to ensure help reaches communities in need.
He says support will continue as the country moves into recovery.
