KAMKUMUNG LO CALLS FOR POLICE INTERVENTION

A landowner from Kamkumung in Lae has raised concerns on the rising law and order issues in the blocks and settlements around the city.

Steven Abiro Tipa says law and order situation is out of hand n the landowners are concerned.
He says the settlements are creating many law and order problems because of using illicit drugs and homebrew.

Tipa said as a landowner, they want developments on their land such as the road from Kamkumung to Back Road and they want big businesses to go in and partner with them, adding that the people of Kamkumung want to work with the Governor and Lae MP, and Nawaeb MP for development in their customary land as a way to reduce social issues.

“We are in the heart of the city and need the government to work with us.

“We want extension of city and development into our land,” he said.

He called on the government to partner with them and build police station, school, hospital and other government services which will help lower some social issues.

Tipa made this call after a fight last week between two factions of people from East Sepik settling on his land went into a fight resulting in properties worth thousands of kina damaged and almost ten people sustained serious injuries.
