GENIA EXPRESES PRIDE IN PLAYERS SELECTION FOR REP CALL UP
By Nigel MADO
In an interview FM100 news following the release of the representative team lists, the recently appointed CRU Gaigais and Valley Hunters coach, Frank Genia expressed both pride and gratitude for the opportunity to coach young athletes and for the recognition his players received this season.
He said it was a privilege and was honoured with the appointment. Coach Genia added that anytime someone gets recognised, whether a player or a coach, to represent the provincial union at the next level is always an honour and to have an opportunity to coach these young men and to hopefully complete that pathway and take them one step further is a really good reward.
This season saw a number of his players being selected for representative teams, a fact that only added to his satisfaction. He said he was really happy for the boys. He mentioned that they had earned their spots having played really well this year.
“The selectors obviously recognised their efforts. Having some pretty big teams all the way through in every single final, right until the grand final, just really happy for the men, really happy for them.”
Genia’s comments highlighted both his commitment to the development of his players and the significance of their achievements on the field. With strong performances throughout the season, the players’ efforts have been duly recognised, further cementing their standing within the rugby community.
This recognition not only speaks to the quality of the players but also to the robust coaching they have received. For the coach, the opportunity to guide his players toward representative honours marks a milestone in his career, and he is eager to see them progress even further on their rugby journeys.
With the CRU season now over, all eyes will now be on the representative teams, with the selected players ready to make their mark on the larger stage.
