BADIHAGWA GETS NEW TEACHERS’ HOUSES

Badihagwa Technical Secondary School, a level 9 day school located in Port Moresby North West, officially opened two new teachers houses today at the school’s premises.

Badihagwa Technical Secondary Principal Julie Vele thanked the National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop and Member for North West Lohia Boe Samuel and their executive team for gracing the school with the staff houses.

Mrs Vele says today was an important and significant milestone for the community of Badihagwa because of the contribution, commitment and participation of NCDC in the completion of the two houses.

She said this contribution has shown the students, teachers, Board of Management and the community of Badihagwa that NCDC is committed to supporting education.

“Your commitment shows us your vision in supporting education and that is the main driving force behind the completion of these two new houses that will enhance the living standards of our teachers.”

The member for Port Moresby North West Lohia Boe Samuel acknowledged Governor Powes Parkop for his support and contribution to the new staff houses whilst also passed on the Governor’s apologies for his at the event.

The two new staff houses took 12 years to be completed under the previous members of Port Moresby North West, however, the local MP Samuel contributed K380, 000 with the NCD Governor’s bid to a private contractor, Nathanel Lunar, to complete the staff houses earlier this year.

North West MP Samuel said his electorate has the most schools in NCD and his is committed to building new classrooms and staff houses as 90 percent of the buildings are in dire need of renovations and repair.

He promised Badihagwa Technical Secondary School to construct a 1×6 classroom next year.

The official opening and cutting of ribbon took place today at the school and was witnessed by students, staff and the community of Badihagwa.
