TKATCHENKO AFFIRMS TALAI STATE LAND FILES MISSING; ILLEGALLY ACQUIRED
Moresby South MP and Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko is outrageous with the recent eviction at Lower Talai settlement area in Badili, Moresby South Electorate, which he claims as State land but was illegally acquired by a woman (who he did not mention) claiming to be the owner.
In an interview with Kalang News, the MP says, innocent people from Goilala and Eastern Highlands residing at Lower Talai were attacked, provoked and man handled by the police today because of one person’s greed of getting state land, through a process that now affect thousands of genuine, good Papua New Guinean citizens.
MP Tkatchenko says, three to four generations of Papua New Guineans have been living in this area are now being evicted, with their houses ransacked, bulldozed, demolished and burnt down.
He further says it is a disaster and he now questions how the particular woman or developer acquired this huge piece of land, belonging to the state.
This piece of land is a registered s State land however, upon confirmation with the Lands department, the files pertaining ownership to the land was missing.
“When we went to get the Lands Files, to find out how this land was acquired, the whole file is missing, nothing to be found.
“The situation is that, this shows that this is full corruption, and people have to answer to this situation,” he says.
As member for Moresby South, he is now concern about the wellbeing of his people in lower Talai who are victims of greed and self-indulgence by a particular woman who has displaced over a thousand displaced people residing there.
He says the situation shows corruption, the land was acquired illegally.
Lies and misinformation has resulted in the situation happening now in the area.
“With NCDC and the Governor, we’ve been trying to acquire the land so we can turn it to a settlement suburb program as we speak. NCDC have approved their urban development program and physical planning in the Lower and Upper Talai area.
Tkatchenko affirms that he will be working with the Lands Minister John Rosso, Lands Secretary together with the NCDC Governor Powes Parkop to come to some common understanding and address the situation. Its just getting out of hand.
