GOILALA DDA PARTNERS WITH MEDOPHARM FOR SUPPLY OF MEDICAL DRUGS

In response to the ongoing shortage of medical drugs affecting health facilities across Papua New Guinea, the Goilala District Development Authority (GDDA) has taken action to help its health services and has partnered with Medopharm (PNG) Ltd to improve the supply of essential medical drugs and equipment to Goilala’s health facilities.
This partnership aims to strengthen Goilala’s healthcare system and ensure that people in rural areas have better access to the medical supplies they need.
Goilala MP and GDDA Chairman, Casmiro Aia, last month, presented a K700,000 cheque to Medopharm (PNG) Ltd in Port Moresby for procurement medical supplies and equipment for Goilala’s healthcare services.
MP Aia highlighted the current health crisis in the country, with shortages of medicines, medical staff, and equipment, affecting rural districts like Goilala.
“We have poor infrastructure, severe shortage of drugs, and not enough medical officers. Many rural districts, including Goilala, are struggling with these issues,” Aia said.
He also highlighted the delays in obtaining medicines, which are a major concern for local health services.
Medopharm (PNG) Ltd CEO, Dr. Robert Ting, thanked the GDDA for the partnership and assured the people of Goilala that the delays in medical supply would soon be a thing of the past.
Medopharm will now directly supply health facilities in Goilala, ensuring timely delivery of medicines and equipment.
“We are committed to working with the GDDA to improve healthcare access in Goilala and ensure that medical supplies arrive on time,” Dr. Ting said.
Medopharm (PNG) Ltd is a leading pharmaceutical company in Papua New Guinea, involved in the distribution of medical products to hospitals across the country, including Modilon General Hospital and Mt. Hagen General Hospital.
The company plays a vital role in ensuring that health facilities have the necessary medicines to serve their communities.
Pharmacist and Consultant at Medopharm, Mr. George Toitopola, also highlighted the challenges faced by people in remote areas of the country in accessing medical services and reassured the GDDA and the people of Goilala that the partnership with Medopharm would improve the supply of medicines and healthcare services in the district.
