MINIMUM WAGE BOARD CONSULTATION CONTINUES
By Nigel MADO
The review of the minimum wage rate review consultation kicked off this week in the capital on Monday and will be concluding on the 29th of this month.
This is the first minimum wage consultation for the country since the last one was held 10 years ago.
The minimum wage board chair, Beverly Doiwa, told FM100 news that so far, the consultation is slowly picking up pace with more people and business houses expected to turn up towards the end of the week.
Madam Doiwa said the consultation is open for the general public and the board is happy to hear the input of the people into the wage discussion.
She mentioned that there were a number of interesting presentations made in the past two days and are looking forward to the rest of the week.
Apart from this she also mentioned that despite the current economic situation in the country, the general consensus is that the minimum wage needs to be reviewed, and the board is urging those interested in NCD to come forward and present their opinions on the minimum wage.
3 business houses have already presented the submissions for the review.
