HELA PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT INKS MOA WITH MAMA BANK
Hela Governor, Hon Philip Undialu, representing the Hela Provincial Government has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Women’s Micro Bank Limited (MAMA BANK) today that aims to strengthen partnership and empower the local communities in the Hela Province.
Chairman of the Mama Bank, Noel Norikgu, Rex Noga who is the acting CEO of Mama Bank in the absence of CEO, Gunandihi Das and Hela’s Governors, Hon Philip Undialu was present at the MOA signing ceremony.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Norikgu thanked the Hela Governor for believing in the service that mama bank provides especially towards the grassroots and for partnering with them to bring this very important service to the local communities in Hela Province.
He adds that the Mama Bank believes in partnership especially with District Development Authorities (DDA) and Provincial members, governors, together with other development partners.
He assured the governor that the CEO, and the staff of Mama Bank will work together with the Governor and the Hela Provincial Government to facilitate the services and work on the ground with them, as a show of commitment towards the materialisation of the MOA.
In his remarks, Gov Undialu shared that this MOA comes with a cheque of K1 Million Kina that the Governor pledged back in September when a Mama Bank branch was launched in Tari Pori District.
He adds The K1 million is a collateral asset or security for the bank, pledging to double the amount if the people of Hela start engaging in the business and investing in the bank.
Gov Undialu this partnership is a fitting Christmas gift to the people of Hela, and has urged the people to engage in agriculture and worthwhile activities that will help to grow the economy of the province.
