PNG NRL TEAM TO BE LAUNCHED NEXT MONTH

DISCUSSIONS are underway for the launching of the PNG team to the NRL which will eventuate soon.

Prime Minister made this announcement in a recent meeting with NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, together with Minister incharge of National Event Justin Tkatchenko and representatives from agencies in the lead up to the 50th independence anniversary.

He highlighted this during discussions on major events for this year.

Prime Minister Marape said the launch of the PNG NRL Team will be in February, and would coincide with major school and youth programs for students and the youth.

Meantime, he says, National Capital District has agreed to be on the standby as host for the PNG Games, but are fully committed to making Southern Highlands game-ready by September as the host of PNG Games.

The Prime Minister also adds that the Games should be ended by early September so athletes can return in time to participate in the celebrations on 16 September.

Planning will comprise major events lining the year and leading into 16 September 2025, which will terminate at the end of the year in December.
