East Sepik Police boss has raised concerns on the recent retaliatory incident that recently occurred in Dagua in the West Coast of East Sepik province, where a remandee on parole attacked and killed two school-aged boys and set fire to several houses.
According to Provincial Police Commander Christopher Tamari this incident follows a series of violent acts in certain parts of the East Sepik province.
Neither PPC Tamari nor his OIC CID were given an opportunity to be heard before the prisoners were released on parole by Judge David Cannings.
He says this incident is the fifth involving one of the released remandees.
The decision to release the remandees was made due to the dire conditions at Boram cell, this includes overcrowding, deteriorating infrastructure, unreliable power supply, and other related issues.
He adds that these dire conditions of Boram cell are not the Provincial Governmentβs responsibility, however, the national government, and urged the National government to seriously look into fixing these issues.
Frustrated by the situation, PPC Tamari has stated that he and his men may resort to using lethal force in order to address these issues in the province.
