SIR J’S LAST TIME IN PARLIAMENT

THE atmosphere is somber here in the Nations Capital as the body of the Late Rt. Hon. Sir Julius Chan was bought to the National Parliament House this morning for the Lie-In-State.
Today was the final time for Sir Julius Chan to be in the Parliament house, the house he played a very significant part in the establishment of its governance.
It is a sad moment for all, as the casket left the Chamber, led by the Governor General His Excellency Sir Bob Dadae, Prime Minister James Marape, and Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat, they accompanied the casket out of the parliament chamber.
Lining the streets of Independence Boulevard, students from various schools around Port Moresby gathered to pay their final respects to one of the country’s founding father and the man credited for the setting up of the central bank and the current economy.
The body of Rt Honourable Late Sir Julius Chan was accorded 19 Gun Salutes before being escorted to the Jacksons Airport, APEC VIP Terminal for his final journey home to New Ireland Province where he will be laid to rest.

Later today the National Government through the Prime Minister James Marape and Speaker of Parliament Job Pomat will hand over the Casket of late Grand Chief Sir Rt Hon. Sir Julius Chan to the New Ireland Provincial Government.
