WOMEN TO RECIEVE TVET SCHOLARSHIPS FROM TOTALENERGIES

In alignment with the Total Energies EP PNG Limited (Total Energies), project’s first pillar of strengthening the country’s workforce development, and bridging gender gaps when accessing education, Total Energies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Caritas Technical Secondary School to support the academic inclusion of young girls from Gulf Province, in Papua LNG’s TVET Scholarship programs.
The aim of this partnership under the TVET scholarship is to enable Gulf students especially young women to gain skills for future employment in PNG.
Marking a significant milestone for the company in supporting education, this important partnership with Caritas and the expansion of the Project’s TVET investment in the country will benefit 10 young women from Gulf that are currently enrolled in National Certificate (NC) Course 1 and 2 in the tourism sector.
The Managing Director of Total Energies, Arnaud Berthet said, it is a very proud moment for Total Energies EP PNG Limited, as it is an international company that also has a responsibility for sustainability in the frame of its operations.
“We are operating in the Gulf Province and it is our duty to provide positive impact to the communities that are welcoming us in the project area of the LNG” said Mr Berthet.
He adds that education is a powerful tool for the development of the country and young children and women should also be includes at the rear end of this very important service.
Caritas Techncial Secondary school’s senior teacher, Esther Mwayemwana on behalf of the school’s directress, Sister Mazarello thanked the LNG for taking Caritas on board especially with this scholarship for the young women.
Since 2019 The PNG LNG TVET scholarship program has supported more than 460 students at TVET institutions in the country within the nation’s capital.
