BSP Financial Group Limited has launched a new mobile service, Wantok Wallet, in Port Moresby today.

The service is designed to help people in Papua New Guinea who do not have access to traditional banking. Wantok Wallet allows users to send and receive money, pay bills, and manage their finances using their mobile phones, without needing a bank account or an internet connection.

The service is especially useful for those living in rural and remote areas where banking is often unavailable. Users can register their mobile number and create a secure PIN to start using the service. It offers lower fees compared to regular banks, making it more affordable.

BSP Financial Group Limited CEO Mark Robinson says Wantok Wallet is part of the bank’s efforts to promote financial inclusion in PNG, where 9 million people don’t have access to banking services. A key feature of Wantok Wallet is the ability to withdraw cash from any BSP ATM without needing a bank card, just by using a mobile number and a secure code.

To activate Wantok Wallet, users can dial *131# on their mobile phones. The service is now available to all mobile phone users in PNG, bringing a new, simple, and secure way for people to manage their money.
