GOROKA Police Station Commander Chief Inspector Timothy Pomoso has issued a strong warning to opportunists not to take advantage of the situation in Goroka and refrain from causing law and order problems.
Chief Inspector Pomoso warned that police will not hesitate to arrest and charge them accordingly if they are caught.
Mr Pomoso made the appeal following several isolated incidents that occurred during the road block yesterday where innocent public were harassed along the highway.
He said exception was given for the immediate families of the deceased police men who were murdered in in Southern Highlands to address their petition to the government which has already been done yesterday.
Mr Pomoso said additional manpower from Mt Hagen have been called down to boost local police manpower to control the situation.
He called on travelling public to take precautions while travelling as the safety of travellers cannot be guaranteed pending response to the petition.
However, several PMV buses including woman, children, students have been strandard in Goroka since yesterday night unable to pass through into the Upper Highlands Region in fear of being attacked along the way.
The road has been cleared with heavy police presence but safety cannot be guaranteed according to Mr Pomoso.
