TOURISM INVESTMENT THROUGH SPORTS

Rugby has the potential to bring in an enormous amount of tourists and business into Papua New Guinea.
These were the remarks from Chief Executive Officer of the PNG NRL Bid Mr Andrew Hill.
He was speaking during the 2025 National Tourism Conference & Expo that is being held at the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby.
He says with the PNG NRL Team now a franchise, the country must now be investing in infrastructure that will develop the tourism industry thru sports.
Mr Hill questions if Port Moresby is ready to host rugby fans that would travel into the city to watch the games.
He says apart from the Hotel industry, the city needs to improve it’s transport system, it’s hospitals and recreation areas, to cater for rugby fans that may travel in from Australia and New Zealand and other Pacific Islands to watch the rugby match come 2028.
He remains optimistic, saying there are 3 years remaining for the city and country, to develop these aspects to cater for sports tourists.
