PNG PARTICIPATES IN PACIFIC WORKFORCE PLANNING

SUPPORTED by Australia, delegates from Papua New Guinea Department of Personnel Management Mr Gerald Yuasise and Ms Bernadette Maino joined representatives from the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Timor-Leste in a Pacific Workforce Planning Intensive Workshop in Canberra.
The training took place from 26 – 30 May and was hosted by the Australian Public Service Commission, co-facilitated by the APS Centre of Excellence in Workforce Planning and the Samoa Public Service Commission. Delegates discussed critical workforce governance challenges that impact economic resilience and political stability across the pacific.
The week’s shared learning culminated in a first of its kind Pacific Public Sector Workforce Planning Guideline – a practical, region-specific toolkit cocreated by the participants. Each participant has been encouraged to champion the guide in their home country and continue connecting through the Pacific Workforce Planning Community of Practice.
