PNG DIPLOMATS & CITIZENS IN ISRAEL RETURNS HOME SAFELY

THE Government has confirmed that all PNG citizens and diplomats who were in Israel have returned home safely.
This follows rising tensions and conflict between Israel and Iran.
PNG’s Ambassador to Israel, Henry Mokono, along with his family and Embassy staff, arrived in Port Moresby on the 29th and 30th of June.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Elias Wohengu, thanked the people of PNG for their prayers and support during the crisis.
He said the country stood together in prayer for the safety of its citizens and for peace in the region.
The PNG Embassy in Jerusalem has now been temporarily closed due to security concerns and officials say they will keep monitoring the situation and stay in touch with international partners.
Mr. Wohengu said PNG continues to support peace and dialogue as a Christian nation, he said PNG prays for stability and a peaceful solution to the conflict.
