PRIME MINISTER APOLOGISES FOR DELAY IN LLG ELECTIONS

By Benjamin KOITAKA
PRIME Minister James Marape has apologised to the Country and to the candidates that already paid their nominations fees vying for either presidents or wards seats, for delaying the long over due 2025 Local Level Government Elections.
Answering a series of question thrown to him by Abau MP Sir Puka Temu during the question time in parliament this morning, Prime Minister Marape further added that the decision was made by PNG Electoral Commission upon the consultation with the Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs to delay the election.
Prime Minister Marape said there are other issues affecting the LLG election, with the major setback includes the preparation of the election itself as well as it was delayed due to the country’s preparations into the peak of celebrating, the 50th Independence Anniversary.
