THE National Court in Waigani has dismissed Chuave MP James Nomane’s application, bidding to becoming or assuming the Opposition Leadership duties and roles.
This morning, Wednesday, 20th of August 2025, the matter returns to Court before single judge Justice John Carey for rulings.
However, Justice Carey ruled that the National Court has no jurisdiction or powers hear on such matters, thus, dismissing the case to entirety.
Former Deputy Opposition Leader Nomane filed the proceedings for the Court to recognise him as the duly elected Opposition Leader, after National Parliament did not recognise his appointment, which Nomane collected 10 votes out of 18 MPs in the Opposition caucus.
