MENDI MURUKS, RABAUL GURIAS INTO MAJOR PRELIMINARY FINALS

By Benjamin KOITAKA
AFTER winning the Don-Foxx Memorial Minor Premier shield earlier while completing the Digicel-ExxonMobil Cup competition regular season at the top-placing, Mendi Muruks were only denied a grand final spot by determined and strong Lae Tigers in the last week’s major semifinal.
However, the Southern Highlands franchise has a last chance to make or break, this weekend, to quench its thirst of lifting the 2025 premiership trophy.
Muruks belted by Tigers in a 16-14 scoreline, yet, they have a chance to face the Rabaul Gurias this Sunday, to fight their way up to book the Grand final spot against arch rivals Tigers.
Both teams will go down into preliminary finals clash this weekend at the Santos National Football Stadium, with the winner to face the Tigers in the ultimate Grand final showdown on the 14th of September, which is the following Sunday.
Meanwhile, Semi-finals for the Women’s Santos Cup will be the curtain raisers and the grand finals is also booked for next week.
