BABY AMONGST 8 DEAD IN ROAD ACCIDENT

TRAGEDY struck earlier this week along the Highlands Highway in a nasty motor vehicle accident that has claimed the lives of 8 passengers onboard a PMV bus including a baby.
According to the Police Highway Patrol Unit that promptly arrived at the scene and also witness statements, the PMV bus was driving at high speed alongside another PMV bus when it went off-road into the nearby drain yesterday, over-turned instantly leaving 8 dead including the baby and also the driver of the PMV bus.
The 8 casualties were later transported by ambulance to th Goroka Hospital morgue with the assistance of the Fire Brigade team who recovered one dead body and one whose leg was stuck due to the impact of the accident.
According to police Highway Patrol the accident happened as a result of reckless driving.
The PMV bus, was travelling from Lae to Mt Hagen, however, tragedy struck just 15minutes into Goroka town outside the plains of Korefegu.
Pictures of the tragic accident have circulated on Facebook as family members have reached out to identify their loved ones.
It is also believed that among the passengers were a group travelling to a church gathering in Mendi.
