A 24 hour ultimatum was given by police to the Tuempinka Village in Kainantu Eastern Highlands Province yesterday to hand over suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a PMV driver on Friday.
Eastern Highlands Provincial Police Commander Cheif Superintendent John Kale made this known to frustrated PMV owners in Goroka yesterday afternoon after receiving their petition at the National Park.
PPC Kale said instructions were given to his men in Kainantu to ensure the suspects were handed over before 4:06pm yesterday.
PPC Kale said a few arrests were made yesterday and his office will make it known to the public today.
Meanwhile, he appealed to the community leaders to assist police in the apprehension of the suspects and those involved to willingly surrender to police.
PPC Kale said full force will be used after the 24 hours ultimatum by police was given yesterday for the suspects to surrender to police.
