CATHOLICS THANKSGIVING MASS FOR SAINT PETER TOROT

Catholic faithfuls in Port Moresby have gathered at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium today for the thanksgiving mass of Saint Peter Torot.
With the theme “Conquering darkness with the light of God’s Word” the holy mass celebrated by Arch Bishop of Port Moresby, His Eminence Sir John Cardinal Ribat gathered thousands of parishioners from all parishes in Port Moresby to celebrate the recent canonisation of the church’s first local saint, Saint Peter Torot.
Today is solely dedicated to Saint Peter Torot, the holy mass started at 9am and will conclude at 12pm, followed by others activities.
Saint Peter Torot was canonized along with 6 others saints at the Vatican last Sunday.
His Eminence Sir John Cardinal Ribat said this is a proud moment for Papua New Guinea; Saint Peter Torot is an ordinary lay person but through prayers and constant miracles, he was given the highest honour of sainthood.
He said the thanks giving mass is a way to remember and give thanks to God for PNG’s first Saint.
