A successful training on arms tracking solution with AI was held this week at the Correctional Service Headquarters conducted by the Center for Armed Violence Reduction Organization in Port Moresby.

Nine officers from Bomana Correctional Institution, Correctional Service National College, and Correctional Service Headquarters participated.

The training is aimed to enhance CS officers’ skills on the Arms Tracker database system developed to track firearms supplied and deployed for duty.

Assistant Commissioner Simon Lakeng thanked the Center for Armed Violence Reduction Organization for their support, saying such partnership and intervention will empower CS in needed areas and this was one of them.

He also thanked the Australian and the Aid Mines Advisory Group for covering and for the continuous support in helping CS in some of the demanding areas in the Law and Justice Sector.

The arms tracking system is in its final phase and will be rolled out to CS department institutions soon.
