KEREMA GENERAL HOSPITAL OPERATING THEATRE TO BE RE-OPENED

CHIEF Executive Officer of the Gulf Provincial Health Authority (GPHA) Dr.Japleth Elvis has officially announced the reopening of the Operating Theater of the Kerema General Hospital after a long period of closure.

“We are pleased to announce that the Kerema Hospital Operating Theatre is ready to reopen after many years of closure,” Dr Elvis announced.

He highlighted that reopening the hospital operating theater will significantly reduce emergency referrals, as the theatre will now be able to accommodate urgent surgical procedures, including cesarean sections, laparotomies, and other critical interventions.

He mentioned that the installation of operating theatre lights is scheduled for this week, followed by fumigation to ensure a safe and sterile environment.

“Please note that this reopening is a temporary measure, as we remain firmly on track to construct a new hospital facility equipped with a modern operating theatre and other clinical services,” Dr. Elvis added.

He concluded by indicating the reopening of the operating theatre marks an important step in restoring essential surgical services for the people of Gulf Province while preparing for the construction of the new proposed hospital.
