MIRE AWAITS RIGHT TIMING TO MAKE PRESENCE KNOWN

OVERSHADOWED by the strong presence of new recruit Joel Gena and veteran playmaker Jamie Mavoko, one-time Lae Snax Tigers premiership winner Joshua Mire is patiently waiting for a right timing to make his presence known and felt.

Back from a season long ACL injury, rejuvenated Mire is knocking the door, every week in and week out, to pull off his favourite no.6 jumper.

Freshly returned and already tie down three games so far, Mire now backing himself at the interchange bench, donning the utility jumpers in the past three consecutive weekends, since the loss to Brisbane Tigers in Round 5.

“It’s good to be back and being part of the team,” Mire said.

“First of all, thankyou to the Good Lord above and secondly the Hunters medical teams for making sure everything was in order and I returned to the field before the expected timeframe.

“It is quite bad, and not a feel-good feeling sitting outside and seeing the boys going down each weekend.

“It’s a team work but we have to play our part individually to help each other and get the two pointers at the end of the day.
“Which ever position you play, either starting, forwards, backs or coming off the bench, you have the duty to perform to get the win.”

Mire further added that head coach Paul Aiton including other senior players are working tirelessly to help build the team and maintain consistency every week.

“Stick to the structure, nothing fancy, nothing new, that is the coach’s message to us,” Mire added.
“Simple but do not relax, and consistency is the key.

“As a part of the senior player, I really want to lead the young players and help where ever need be.”
“I’m ready to step into any role that coach wants me to play and perform,” Mire said.

Mire appeared in 14 different occasions since making his debut in 2023 season.
