THE Wabag Catholic Diocese in Enga Province will celebrate the ordination of a local deacon where he will be officially ordained to be a priest.

Wabag Catholic Diocese Communications Officer Jonathan Sope Anro confirmed and passed the message to all faithful Christians that Wabag Diocese Bishop Justin Ain Soongie, together with the consultants of the Diocese, in their recent meeting officially announced the Priesthood Ordination of Reverend Deacon Newman Kundal Soongie (pictured) will be celebrated on Friday, the 26th of June 2026 at Tsikiro Sacred Heart Parish, Ambum LLG in the Kompiam Ambum District.

“All faithful Christians, clergy, religious, and well-wishers from across the diocese are warmly invited to come and witness this joyful and blessed occasion as Reverend Deacon Newman Kundal Soongie is ordained into the Holy Priesthood,” Anro said.

He encouraged all Christians to come together in prayer and celebration to support him on this special day as a gospel worker of Jesus Christ.

Enga Province has the highest number of Catholics, followed by the Seventh Day Adventists and Gutnius Lutheran Church as most government schools and health facilities throughout the province were established by the early missionaries from these three church organizations.
