PNC EC & WESTERN PROVINCE SET FOR ELECTORAL ROLL UPDATES

THE PNG Electoral Commission (PNGEC) and the Western Province will soon put pen-to-paper, agreeing on to work together to help eligible voters to register as well ensuring proper election preparation underway.
This was made know last week in Port Moresby by acting-Electoral Commissioner Margreth Vagi and Western Provincial administrator Robert Kaiyun.
Commissioner Vagi and provincial administrator Kaiyun confirmed that they will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to carry out electoral and election awareness in the province, before the 2027 National General Election.
Acting Commissioner Vagi added that the MoU will be signed anytime soon, signifying collaborative work between the respective stakeholders for the benefit of their people.
“This will be very big step forward for the Western province,” Vagi said.
“We will sign the MoU soon that will enable our officer visit Western province to carry out the ongoing Electoral Roll Updates and other election preparations.”
Vagi said her plans are also to move into other parts of the Regions, partnering with the provinces and districts to prepare for the upcoming election.
Vagi adamant that with the availability internet especially Starlink will enable her officers to fast track the data and voter enrolments.
Administrator Kaiyun admitted that this would be a big step ahead for his people to have eligible voters properly registered.
Kaiyun said Western province is ready to work with PNG Electoral Commission and set to sign the MoU to get the work off the ground.
