VAGI’s TENURE ENDS, EC TO ANNOUNCE PERMANENT ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER

THE Country is waiting in anticipation to know the fate of the acting electoral commissioner Margreth Vagi, whether she would be replaced or would continue her role as the permanent Electoral Commissioner and running the forthcoming National General Election.
Vagi’s tenure as the acting PNG Electoral Commission comes to an end last Wednesday, the 20th of May 2026, however, the Electoral Commission Appointments Committee is yet to announce the permanent Commissioner.
Vagi replaced former Commissioner Simon Sinai on the 20th of November 2024, and her six-months acting period lapsed last week with the country looking forward to hear the appointment of permanent head of the Election affairs in this country.
