FISH FARMER IN SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS CALLS FOR SUPPORT

BY SAMUEL RAITANO
A fish farmer in Southern Highlands Province is struggling to set up a fully-fledged Tilapia Farm for possible export opportunities in the near future.
Anjo Trinity Fish Farm (ATFF) at Konapul village in Imbonggu district has been worked on by the founder and Managing Director James Anjo, since 2019.
Mr. Anjo says the farm had received assistance from National Fisheries Authority from time to time, but the call now is on the national government through the Fisheries Ministry to step in with sufficient funding support to develop it to its final stages.
Anjo says he needs financial assistance for two ram pumps and materials associated with it for constant surplus water supply, farm perimeter fencing, hatchery & nursery, a mini processing plant, cold storage equipment’s and an admin office
Anjo says such projects were to create job opportunities for the youths, improve local diet and generate revenue when export starts, giving rise to SMEs and other developments in the community as well.
It had been a long journey for Mr Anjo, the community and youths of Konapul village, using their time, resources and manpower to initiate the program, based on manual labor.
