MVIL AND NCDPHA PARTNER TO CLEAN UP MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE CLAIMS

BY LETHISA KOLOKOL
MOTOR vehicle accident insurance claims in the National Capital District (NCD) will now undergo strict medical verification before processing, following a new strategic partnership aimed at reducing fraudulent claims.
The initiative follows a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed this morning in Port Moresby by Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited (MVIL) Chief Executive Officer Bafino Koi and National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Robin Oge.
Under the agreement, NCDPHA will provide MVIL with direct access to verified medical reports, formal injury assessments, and specific clinical notes.
MVIL will use these certified medical documents to assess and process claims under its statutory Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance mandate.
MVIL Chief Executive Officer Bafino Koi stated that the partnership will boost transparency and safeguard the integrity of the compensation system.
“Through this partnership, MVIL will process genuine documents that are verified by NCDPHA health professionals,” Mr. Koi said. “This includes definitive confirmation of patient identity, detailed assessments of injury severity, and explicit verification of treatment details.”
To support this framework, both state agencies will establish secure communication channels to ensure the rapid and accurate sharing of medical records.
Mr. Koi added that MVIL will support NCDPHA by providing operational resources and capacity-building assets, in accordance with Schedule 1 of the MoU, to ensure effective implementation.
NCDPHA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Robin Oge highlighted the broader significance of the collaboration, noting that strategic partnerships create result-driven outcomes for state agencies and the public.
The partnership is expected to ensure that genuine claimants receive timely and fair compensation, reduce fraudulent claims, and significantly strengthen the credibility and accountability of both MVIL and NCDPHA.
