TECH EXPERT URGES PNG LEADERS TO SECURE DATA AND KEEP ROI LOCAL

A CRITICAL question on how Sovereign Cloud and Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure translate to real-time Return on Investments for Papua New Guinea was answered by CloudSigma’s global tech expert, Robert Jenkin, during the PNG Executive Round Table hosted by Datec PNG Limited, Telkom Limited, and Swiss cloud company CloudSigma on Tuesday 14th July, 2026, in Port Moresby.
In delivering his presentation, Mr Jenkin’s enlightened on Sovereign Cloud and Artificial Intelligence specifically designed to guide local business executives and government agency leaders on building modern data strategies.
Mr Jenkin shared that while his background is in Economics, his passion lies in creating efficiency at the leadership and management levels within organizations.
He used that drive, alongside AI as a tool, to build CloudSigma—an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) provider specializing in flexible, sovereign cloud servers and cloud hosting solutions.
Mr Jenkin also highlighted several global success stories, including Real-world EDC (Pharmaceuticals and Research).
Real-world EDC adopted CloudSigma to host digital systems for major pharmaceutical studies requiring high security and efficiency.
The CloudSigma solution provided fast global data speeds, compliance with medical data regulations, and a pay-as-you-go infrastructure for optimized costs.
Mr Jenkin also highlighted that CloudSigma has demonstrated a high success rate in deploying AI systems that bring speed and efficiency to procurement, tendering processes, and Human Resource management.
While acknowledging that AI has flaws, Mr Jenkin emphasized that establishing a sovereign data center is critical for any nation. It ensures that data stored in local clouds is protected by domestic laws, while keeping the financial Return on Investments within the country rather than flowing overseas.
