DPLGA URGES REMAINING PROVINCES TO SUBMIT 2025 PERFORMANCE REPORT

The Department of Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs (DPLGA) is urging remaining provinces to submit their 2025 annual provincial performance reports immediately.

Only 10 provinces have summitted their reports so far however the Department is continuing to work with the remaining provinces to ensure full compliance.

The DPLGA is currently deploying field visits and technical assistance to help the outstanding administrations achieve full compliance.

DPLGA Deputy Secretary Mr Larsen Thomas emphasized that Section 119 and Section 114 reports are vital for government transparency.

He emphasised that these legal mechanisms allow the National Government to accurately assess how well public services are being delivered at the sub-national level.

Meanwhile, the Southern Highlands Provincial Administration officially handed over its 2025 Annual Provincial Performance Report (APPR) to Deputy Secretary Thomas on Tuesday 04th August, 2026 in Port Moresby.

Southern Highlands Deputy Provincial Administrator for Corporate Services, Mr Kenneth Kelei, revealed that the late release of recurrent grants from the National Government directly delayed their report.

“Mostly, we received our recurrent grants late. Those funds were released from the National Government, and that took up implementation time and delayed us. But we are still complying to fulfill our reporting requirements,” Mr Kelei said.

All provincial administrations must submit these reports under the strict requirements of the Organic Law on Provincial Governments and Local-level Governments.

This is part of the Marape Rosso government’s efforts to strengthen governance and accountability.
