PROFESSOR NICOLE HALEY TO RESUME DUTIES TODAY

FOLLOWING the official swearing in and completion of all formalities yesterday, the newly appointed Electoral Commissioner Professor Nicole Haley officially resume her duties today.

The formalities include signing of the contract and taking her Oath, to serve the PNG Electoral Commission for the next four years.

Dr. Nicole Haley put-pen-to paper at the Government House in Konedobu, before Governor General Sir Bob Dadae and took her Oath at the Chief Justice Office in Waigani Court House, before Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika.

The swearing-in and taking the Oath were also witnessed by Chief Secretary to Government Ivan Pomaleu and Personal management Secretary Taies Sansan.

“These events now conclude and signifies that Dr Nicole is legally the new Electoral Commissioner,” Chief Secretary Pomaleu said.

“There was a delay due to some of the processes and procedures we want to get it right, in terms of hiring non-citizen.

“But everything now concludes, with Dr Nicloe taking the Oath and signed her contract to serve the nation for the next four year.

Chief Justice Sir Gibbs also congratulates the incoming Commissioner for taking the role, offering his support to her.
“Congratulations for taking up the role,” Chief Justice Sir Gibbs said after the Oath.

“It’s a toughest decision and task to work in PNG, but we are here to offer our support.

“Wishing you well in your next duties and also taking lead in the upcoming National General Election.”

Dr Nicole said she will officially resume office at the PNG Electoral Commission headquarters in Port Moresby today.

In her brief maiden speech, Dr Nicole added that she remains committed to work with every stakeholder in the remaining months to deliver a safe, free, fair and successful 2027 National General Elections.
