137 STEM STUDENTS FAREWELLED TO STUDEY OVERSEAS

A total of 137 students from the 4th cohort of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education (STEM) Scholars Program were farewelled today at the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby, as they prepare to depart this week to pursue university studies overseas.

The scholars will attend universities in 5 different countries including China, the United States, India, Malaysia and Australia partner countries.

Speaking at the event, Department of Education Secretary Dr. Uke Kombra congratulated the students on their achievements thanking parents for their support.

Dr. Kombra also acknowledged the Marape-Rosso Government, KPHL, the Australian Government, and other partnering countries for their continued support of the program.

Minister for Education, Francis Kikin Suine, also congratulated the students saying the nation is proud of their achievement and believes in their potential as the next generation of leaders, innovators, and professionals who will shape the future of our nation.

The Minister encouraged the students to remain disciplined in their studies, humble in their conduct, and respectful of other cultures as they become ambassadors for Papua New Guinea.
