SOPAS ADVENTIST PRIMARY HOST EVANGELISM WEEK; DEDICATES NEW CHURCH

THE Sopas Adventist Primary School in the Mai local level government area of Wabag District hosted a week-long school evangelism program from August 2nd–8th and was concluded on Sabbath (Saturday) over the weekend with water baptism.

Pokeras in Sopas village was once known as a battlefield where much blood was shed and buried but through God’s leading, the place is now being transformed by the Gospel through the missionary works of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Following the evangelism, a new church building was dedicated to God, which was built by the staff and students of the Sopas Adventist Primary School.

The Pokeras Church was officially dedicated on Saturday August 08th by Pr. Edward David witnessed by the District Director of Wabag – Ambum District Pr. Andrew Jacob, Area Supervisor for Enga Province Ps.Bopalo and Western Highlands Mission Education Director Mr. Mathew Tara.

The Head Teacher of Sopas Adventist School Mr. Philip Sakian, expressed his appreciation to all students and teaching staff for their cooperation and support towards these achievements.

“We worked as one team, cooperated and operated together for the service of the Lord. Finally, the church was planted and dedicated.” Mr Sakian said.

More than 500 people attended the nightly programs — including students, Adventist members, and non-Adventist community members.

The event concluded with the baptism of 24 precious souls, with more than 80 people responding to the appeal call for repentance and made their decisions for baptism in the future.

Sopas also hosts the Wabag District Hospital and the Medical and Health Sciences Faculty of the Innovative University of Enga.
