EHP GOVERNMENT INVESTS K20 MILLION IN TERTIARY STUDENTS

THE Eastern Highlands Provincial Government has invested more than K20 million in tertiary school fee assistance over the past four years, from 2023 to 2026.
The program has supported Eastern Highlands students attending 73 tertiary institutions and colleges throughout Papua New Guinea.
Governor Simon Sia says the investment is a long-term commitment to developing the province’s human resources and ensuring students are not denied higher education because of school fees.
The latest funding brings the total investment over the four-year period to more than K20 million.
From this, K1.8 million was presented to 900 Eastern Highlands students studying at the University of Goroka as school fee assistance from the Provincial Government.
The funding covers both on-campus students and those studying through the University’s Institute of Distance and Flexible Learning.
Governor Simon Sia says the assistance is aimed at easing the financial burden on students and parents, particularly those struggling to meet tertiary education costs.
He has urged students to work hard and use their education to contribute to the future development of Eastern Highlands Province.
