PUBLIC SERVANTS URGED TO REGISTER DIGITAL ID

THE Department of Personnel Management (DPM) has directed all public servants in Papua New Guinea to register for a new Public Service Digital ID by December 31, 2026.

The order follows a directive from Prime Minister James Marape. It aims to support the government’s “One Person, One Position, One Pay” policy.

The digital ID project is a joint effort with the Department of Information and Communication Technology.

DPM Secretary Taies Sansan said the new system will secure public service identities and clean up the state payroll. It is designed to stop identity fraud and remove fake or duplicate names, commonly known as ghost employees.

Sansan is urging all heads of government agencies, provincial administrations, and state authorities must start registration preparations immediately.

Government departments have four months to complete the registration process before the end-of-year deadline.
