PACIFIC LEADERSHIP SYMPOSIUM UNDERWAY IN PORT MORESBY

BY RICKY ISRAEL

THE 4th annual Legacy Leadership Symposium is underway in Port Moresby, bringing together emerging and experienced leaders from Papua New Guinea and across the Pacific.

The three-day symposium, commenced yesterday, is organized by the Pacific Legacy Leadership Foundation (PLLF), a regional initiative focused on building values based, resilient and authentic Pacific leadership.

PLLF team member Lanieta Rauqeuqe says participants are coming from PNG, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and New Zealand, with speakers from different sectors including business, government, development, communities and faith based organisations.

She says the symposium will focus on Pacific values such as respect, care, love and being good neighbours, while helping leaders develop practical skills they can take back to their communities and work places.

The event also looks at strengthening regional leadership, creating opportunities for young and emerging leaders, and turning discussions into practical action on issues affecting Pacific communities.

The Legacy Leadership Symposium has previously been held in Tonga in 2023, Fiji in 2024 and New Zealand in 2025, before coming to Papua New Guinea this year.

The 3 day event continues today and ends on Wednesday.
