PM MARAPE TO OPEN GOROKA FOUR-LANE ROAD AND UOG ADMINISTRATION BUILDING TODAY

THE Eastern Highlands Provincial capital, Goroka, will witness two major development events today, with the official launching of the Goroka four-lane road project and the opening of the new University of Goroka central administration building by Prime Minister James Marape who will arrive in Goroka today from Lae.

The Goroka four-lane project, under the Department of Works and Highways, will be officially launched at Bena Bridge along the Highlands Highway.

The project is identified as Phase One of the Goroka-to-Korofeigu four-lane road, aimed at improving road capacity, traffic flow and connectivity in and around Goroka.

The official program will also include the special opening of the Okuk Highway Bridge rehabilitation program and Bena Bridge.

Prime Minister James Marape and Minister for Works and Highways Peter Tsiamalili Jnr are expected to feature at the official launching of the road project.

Meanwhile, the University of Goroka, or UOG, will also mark a significant milestone today with the official opening of its new Central Administration Building.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the University of Goroka campus from 3pm to 8pm today.

The university has acknowledged the support of the National Government, Prime Minister James Marape, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science, Technology and Sports, development partners, contractors and other stakeholders in the completion of the facility.

The new administration building is expected to strengthen the university’s administrative capacity and support its growing role in higher education in Papua New Guinea.

The two events highlight major investments in road infrastructure and higher education development in Eastern Highlands Province.

The developments are expected to contribute to improved connectivity, public services and long-term development in Goroka and the wider Highlands region.
