LCA SUPPORTS UNITECH SRC WITH K20,000 FOR 51ST ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

THE Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUoT) Students Representative Senate (SRS) has received K20,000 in financial support from the Lae City Authority (LCA) towards the University’s activities marking Papua New Guinea’s 51st Independence Anniversary.

The funding was formally presented on behalf of the LCA by the Treasurer of the Morobe Provincial Association Mr Mr. Victor Seng to Unitech SRS President Mr. Newton Yangharry at the Unitech SRS Office yesterday.

The presentation was witnessed and received by members of the Unitech SRS, including USDC Representative Mr. Darren Maino, Events Coordinator Ms. Shanaiah Bimundi, and Vice President Madam Victoria Meta.

Speaking after receiving the funding, SRS President Newton Yangharry expressed his sincere appreciation to Hon. John Rosso, MP, Member for Lae Open and Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, and the Lae City Authority for their continued support towards the Unitech student body.

“On behalf of the entire Unitech student body and the Students Representative Senates, I would like to sincerely thank the Chairman of the Lae City Authority, Hon. John Rosso, MP, for this generous support towards our 51st Independence celebrations,” Mr. Yangharry said.

He further acknowledged that the support from LCA has extended beyond the current Independence celebration.

“The Lae City Authority has continuously demonstrated its commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of Unitech students. We have seen their support through security vehicles for the University, assistance towards the SRS Uni Games, deployment of security personnel during times of OBT attacks, and support towards various SRS activities and events,” he said.

Mr. Yangharry said the continued partnership between LCA and Unitech was important because the University is an institution that contributes significantly to the development of Papua New Guinea through the training of future engineers, scientists, business leaders and professionals.

He said the K20,000 contribution would assist the SRS in successfully delivering activities associated with the University’s celebration of the country’s 51st Independence Anniversary.

Mr. Yangharry said he would ensure that the message of appreciation was conveyed to the Deputy Prime Minister and LCA Chairman.

“We sincerely appreciate the confidence and support that Hon. John Rosso and the Lae City Authority continue to show towards Unitech students. This contribution is not only financial assistance; it is also a demonstration of partnership and solidarity with the future leaders of this country,” the SRS President said.

The Unitech SRS has therefore extended its appreciation to Hon. John Rosso, MP, the Lae City Authority, and all those involved in facilitating the funding.

The SRS said it looks forward to strengthening its partnership with the Lae City Authority in supporting student welfare, campus security, sports, leadership, community engagement and other initiatives benefiting Unitech students.
