EDUCATION IS THE FOUNDATION OF THE NATION’S FUTURE
EDUCATION Minister, Francis Kikin Siune says the future of Papua New Guinea begins in the classroom and education is the foundation of the nation’s future.
Minister Siune said these, when delivering his 51st Independence anniversary message at Vulupindi haus car park in Port Moresby.
Minister Suine said as PNG marks 51 years since 1975, the country’s greatest resource is not minerals, timber, gas but its people.
He outlined major reforms under the National Educational Plan 2020-2029, including the 1-6-6 reform which is 1 year of early child hood. 6 years of primary and 6 years of secondary education. He said this reform will eliminate garde 8 and 10 dropouts and give every child direct path to Grade 12.
He said other reforms include full implementation of the Standard Based Curriculum formal integration of early child hood education, expended TVET and FODE programs enhanced teacher training and digital tools to reach remote communities.
Looking ahead to the next 50 years towards 2075, Minister Suine said the government’s vision is an inclusive, high-quality and Morden education system where no child is left behind focused on STEM, digital literacy, entrepreneurship and civic responsibility.
He thanked teachers serving across the country and urged students to reject violence, respect their teachers and parents and work hard for their dreams.
The Minster reaffirmed that the Government’s Free Education Policy Continues to remove financial barrier for families into the next 50 years.
