WHPG ASSISTS PRIVATE TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

BY SAMUEL RAITANO

FIVE private tertiary institutions in Western Highlands Province have received timely assistance of K50,000 each from the provincial government.

The institutions are Kumul Training Institute, PNG Education College, Mt Hagen School of Nursing, Keluwa Teachers College and Mapex Training Institute.

Governor Wai Rapa yesterday (Friday) presented bank receipts of the deposits to senior representatives of the five institutions at Sir Mara Haus.

Rapa says the funding support was given because the institutions were formally registered and have been operating for years to serve grades 10 and 12 school leavers, which was something he appreciates.

Meanwhile, representatives of the institutions thanked the provincial government in recognizing them for the first time, as they do not receive government subsidies even though they are part of the implementation team of government policy in education sector.

It was revealed that the funding would greatly help in supporting their close up and graduation programs for this year as well.
