KUMULS SKIPPER GRATEFUL AHEAD OF FINAL HOME GAMES

PNG Kumuls skipper Rhys Martin admitted it was a surreal feeling back then in 2014 when he pulled on the famous Red, Black and Gold jumper and looking back, it is more than a decade, he proudly represented his country, his people, his family and passionate fans and supporters of Kumuls both in the country and overseas at the International level.

Soon to retire skipper Martin, added it was a blessing in disguise to represent the country every year-in, year-out and he really on his knees to do what he does best, one more time before, winding down a decorated career.

Martin, with 21-appearances under his belt, this year’s World Cup and wearing the Kumuls jumper for the last time means a lot to him and his professional rugby league career.

Martin further cautioned his side on not taking the Lebanon side lightly, adding that Cedars does ‘turn on’ when it is about representing their country and people and at international stage.

Kumuls and Lebanon will kick-off the opener of their respective games of 2026 Rugby League World Cup series here at the National Football Stadium.

The game kicks-off at 2:25pm.
