BY BENJAMIN KOITAKA
PNG Kumuls took a slim 18-12 lead in the first 40 minutes, leaving everything up for grab in the Rugby League World Cup opener here at the National Football Stadium.
Kumuls opened up the afternoon with a opening try from Gairo Voro, followed by Robert Derby and veteran Nixon Putt with kicking ace Rhys Martin found the uprights, in all three attempts.
Lebanon Cedar replied through via Abbas Miski from a dummy-half duck in while intercept from Tony Francis lead to Tony Sukar’s cross over right before the half-time siren.
Kumuls coach Jason Demetriou started Finley Glare, Edwin Ipape and Liam Horne, while Jack de Belin and slyvester namo come off the bench.
Bailey Biondi-Odo is yet to enter the field.
Big 40 coming up next.
