DPM REMINDS PUBLIC SERVANTS OF ELECTION DEADLINE

CAPTION: Secretary for Department of Personal Management Taies Sansan
THE Department of Personnel Management is reminding public servants planning to contest the 2027 National General Election that they must resign from the Public Service by 29 October 2026.
DPM Secretary Taies Sansan says the requirement is mandated under Section 55 of the Public Services Management Act, which requires intending candidates to leave the Public Service six months before election writs are issued on 29 April next year.
Public servants seeking election are being urged to submit their resignation notices before the deadline and provide copies to DPM for verification.
The Department has also established a Technical Working Group to work with the Electoral Commission to confirm compliance by nominated candidates.
Secretary Sansan says the measures are aimed at protecting the integrity, neutrality and professionalism of the Public Service while supporting the lawful transition of officers into politics.
