NAFUND EXTENDS MEMBER SERVICE TO BALIMO

NATIONAL Superanuation Fund or Nasfund, through its southern regional branch link successfully completed a comprehensive member outreach program in Balimo, delivering essential superannuation, savings, and member support services to employees of the PNG Sustainable Development Program (SDP), Kokoda Track Foundation (KTF) and surrounding employers.
The initiative was part of Nasfund’s ongoing commitment to extending quality member services to regional and remote communities, ensuring members have equitable access to information, retirement planning support, and critical account management services.
During the outreach, the team directly assisted more than 250actively contributing members including in-active members who could not access the Fund’s services through a nearest Nasfund branch.
A significant outcome of the exercise was the collection of member data updates that saw a total of 134 members updating their beneficiaries to improve record accuracy and strengthen member account integrity. The team also captured 155 images to support membership identification card processing and more than 150-member online registrations to access their balances anytime and anywhere through the online balance check mediums.
The outreach further focused on financial awareness that saw 5-member awareness presentations reaching 166 members on site with retirement preparedness, providing members with information on superannuation benefits, voluntary contributions, long-term savings strategies, and the importance of maintaining up-to-date beneficiary information.
Feedback received from Joe Mana, Shared Services Coordinator of PNG Sustainable Development Program, highlighted the positive impact of the program on employees. Staff reported a stronger understanding of superannuation, savings and loans products, voluntary contributions, and long-term financial planning, while many members were able to update personal records and access services that are not readily available in remote locations.
The program also generated increased interest in NCSL membership and reinforced the importance of cultivating a savings culture among employees and their families. Several new membership applications and service requests were initiated as a result of the visit.
Nasfund acknowledges the support and collaboration of PNG Sustainable Development Program management, Kokoda Track Foundation, Balimo College leadership, payroll teams, and all participating members whose commitment contributed to the success of the outreach.
Through initiatives such as this, Nasfund continues to strengthen member engagement, improve data quality, promote financial literacy, and ensure that members across Papua New Guinea are empowered to make informed decisions about their financial future.
From the Fund’s membership database, SDP currently contributes for 259 employers, Kokodo Track Foundation for 204 employees along with 41 teachers under Balimo College.
