SEALING PROJECT TO TRANSFORM NIPA TOWNSHIP
By Joel ANDREW, Southern Highlands
The Town sealing of Nipa Kutubu District’s head quarter has started & will continue over a period of time till completion.
This project was funded by the Southern Highlands Provincial Government, & is counter funded by the Nipa Kutubu District Development Authority.
Kemele Constructions Limited has been awarded this town sealing project but due to lack of capacity, Construct Oceanic Limited was brought on board. This is to support with machineries & equipment in getting this significant impactful project done on time.
In a statement last week, local MP & Minister for Defence Billy Joseph expressed his gratitude to the Contractors. He mentioned that this are his development aspirations for the electorate he represents in parliament.
“Our dream of making Nipa Station a service centre to support our people of Lai Valley, Kutubu, Kandep. Magarima and Kagua is still alive and will be achieved in due accord.”
Minister Billy also urged neighbouring communities within the Nipa township to avoid disruption to the project & allow a smooth flow until the project’s completion.
Nipa-Kutubu district is currently undergoing some major infrastructure projects like the Connect Mt. Bosavi Road. Apart from this, the recent K317 million Parita junction to Kaimari upgrade & sealing.
