THE recent four-days workshop on the Police Act 1998 Law Review and the Constabulary Standing Orders was for members of the Force to participate and contribute in the discussions.
According to Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Policy and Planning Division, Rigga Neggi, the staff involvement as participants would make them appreciate that they were part of the team that took part in the process, when seeing the final product.
He said the participants would have a sense of ownership over the documents as well.
Mr Neggi made these remarks whilst officiating the four-days workshop at the Gazelle International Hotel in Kokopo, East New Britain Province, which commenced today and will end on Friday (19th – 22nd of Nov, 2024).
ACP Neggi said the Police Act Review is an Internal Consultations whilst consulting the National Executive Council (NEC) decisions on the External Consultations.
He added that the workshop was for the participants to critically analyze the two important documents and see what went wrong in the Constabulary’s current practices. This was also to look at the positive benefits from the Police Act Review and the CSO.
He further emphasised that the workshop was also to have a general appreciation of the Royal Papua New Guinea (RPNGC) Corporate Plan 2020–2030 and the importance of the 2024 Annual Management Reports (AMRs).
The first two days will be for the participants to discuss and contribute ideas on the Police Act Review whilst another two days is to have discussions on Constabulary Standing Orders (CSOs).
The workshop is only for the Constabulary members from the New Guinea Island Police Commands and Bougainville Police Services.
